The Super Eagles team, made up of players based in Nigeria, will not be going to the 2024 African Nations Championship after losing 4-0 to Sudan.
This was their second time losing in the tournament, as they had previously lost 1-0 against Senegal.
Anthony Ijoma’s goal was not allowed because he was in an offside position in the 23rd minute.
Nigeria ended up behind by a goal two minutes later when Leonard Ngenege accidentally scored for the other team.
Sudan was given a chance to score from a penalty kick one minute before halftime because Ngenege touched the ball with his hand in the penalty area.
Walieldin Khidir calmly kicked the ball past Lawal Mustapha into the goal.
The Sudanese team scored two more times in the second half with goals from Abdel Raouf Yagoub in the 55th and 62nd minutes.
The Home Eagles will play against Congo in their last game of the group stage next Tuesday.
